Origins of the G.O.E. Beret

The berets of the Special Operations Group (G.O.E.) are a distinctive piece of the uniform of this important group of the Spanish army. Their use dates back to 1958 when they were adopted as an essential part of the uniform of the Special Operational Commandos (C.O.E.).

Added the Emblem of the Spanish Army

In 1988, the G.O.E. berets underwent a significant change. To the traditional COE emblem, that of the Spanish Army was added. This emblem added extra distinction to these berets, marking them even more as a garment of pride and identity in the Spanish army.

Change of Badges in 1991

From 1991 onwards, the berets of the Special Operations Units of the Spanish army once again wore the metal COE insignia, along with the badges. This decision marked a return to the origins, highlighting even more the rich history and importance of this accessory in the uniformity of the G.O.E.

The G.O.E. Beret Today

Today, the G.O.E. beret continues to be a symbolic representation of the unity, strength, and history of the Special Operations Units of the Spanish Army. It is steeped in history and tradition, making it an indispensable piece for any military collector or military history enthusiast.
